Training overview

Live Your Yoga! Our Yoga Studies program is a ideal way to deepen your practice and explore the mysteries of yoga. Through our 100 Hour Yoga Studies program, you will gain a broad understanding of this 5000-year-old practice. You will learn lots about the physical asanas of course, and, you will also explore “how yoga works” on the physical, energetic, mental, and spiritual levels. Cultivate a broad appreciation for the full spectrum of yogic practices, philosophies and wisdom teachings. Most valuable of all, this program of self discovery invites you to dive into the depths of who you are and you will leave learning more about yourself.
This 100 Hour Yoga Studies program consists of 5 weekend workshops. Each workshop is well rounded and explores yoga through the practices of asana, posture clinics, pranayama, meditation, Classical and Tantric philosophy, group discussion and personal inquiry. There are take-home inquiries and assignments with each weekend workshop. Completion of these assignments is required if you plan to enrol in our 100 Hour Teaching Skills program and seek initial certification as a yoga teacher.
This 100 Hour Yoga Studies program can be taken on its own, as separate weekend workshops, or combined with the 100 Hour Teaching Skills training for the 200 Hour Foundations Yoga Teacher Training Certification.

Successful completion of the 5 Yoga Studies Workshops earns you a 100 Hour Yoga Studies Certificate. If you combine the 100 Hour Yoga Studies training with the 100 Hour Teaching Skills training, you will be eligible for the 200 Hour Foundations Yoga Teacher Training Certificate. All our trainings are certified by Yoga Alliance International. If you are an existing yoga teacher, all of these trainings are eligible for Continuing Education Credits with Yoga Alliance.

Key Topics Covered

Each weekend is themed on a key subject area and integrates multiple facets of a well-rounded yoga practice. The philosophical explorations will be integrated and embodied through asana practice, group discussion and personal inquiry. Topics include:

Philosophy for the Modern Day Yogi:
Learn more about this 5000-year-old practice and the ancient teachings that remain relevant in our modern-day context. Explore yoga through the lenses of Classical philosophy, Tantra philosophy, Jnana (knowledge), Raja (meditation), Karma (right action) and Bhakti (devotion). Study Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga, including the ethics of yoga, postures, breathwork and meditation.
Classical Yoga of Patanjali:
The Sutras of Patanjali is a foundational text that can be equated to the psychology of yoga. The text is written in short, terse statements that are designed to be unpacked as a community through discussion and inquiry. The sutras dives into the nature of the distracted mind and what keeps us from deep inner peace. Learn meditation tools and techniques that harness the power of a clear and focused mind.
Anatomy & Biomechanics:
Anatomy & Biomechanics comes alive through interactive learning and active exploration. Key concepts include the musculoskeletal system,  connective tissue, joints, respiratory and nervous systems, and the anatomy of the spine, head, neck, shoulders, upper limbs, pelvis, and lower limbs. Also explore common pathologies, injuries and health concerns.
Bhagavad Gita – Living Yoga:
This is one of yoga’s most beloved texts that is a metaphor for life. It is a timeless story about a warrior prince, Arjuna, who faces a big life dilemma – whether or not to fight in a battle between different branches of his family. Arjuna asks big life questions of his teacher, of which we are also invited to ask of ourselves, such as: “Where do we come from? Where do we go when we die? Is there life after death? What is my purpose?”.
Subtle Anatomy:
The Energy Body: Ancient Yogis mapped out the human body in a way that goes beyond what we can perceive with our five senses. Learn about the 5 bodies (koshas), chakras (energy centers), kundalini (awakening consciousness), prana (breath and life force), bandhas (energy locks) and ayurveda (science of yoga).
