Teaching Skills 1: Observation & Language

September 11 – 13, 2020

Fri 5-8PM • Sat 9-4:30PM • Sun 9-4:30PM

Faculty: TBA

Location: Journey Yoga, Calgary AB

Tuition: Full Weekend $365

The weekend focused on observing your students and refining your cues and language will empower you to teach yoga with clarity, convey your passion, broaden your vocabulary, and inspire your students.
Communication is the most important tool you have as a yoga teacher. First, you must be able to observe what is going on with your students so that your teaching is both clear and engaging. You will also explore how to use your voice and purposeful cues to convey the kind of energy that supports your students’ experience of their practice.

Key Concepts

• Practice teaching with your peers so that you gain experience of what it is to teach with confidence
• Observing your students and learning to teach to what you see
• Teaching poses clearly and systematically with cues that are directive, clear and potent
• Instructing poses with breath cues
• Learning how to effectively offer and receive feedback
• Developing your voice: tone, diction, projection
