Learn more about this 5000-year-old practice and the ancient teachings that remain relevant in our modern-day context. Explore yoga through the lenses of Classical philosophy, Tantra philosophy, Jnana (knowledge), Raja (meditation), Karma (right action) and Bhakti (devotion).
Philosophy for the Modern-Day Yogi provides the metaphysical foundation for your teachings and another layer to engage your students in a meaningful yoga practice. In this workshop, you will gain a better understanding of where yoga comes from including the various traditions and lineages and how these venerated practices are shared today.

Key Concepts

The exploration of yoga philosophy has brought great benefits to enhancing your yoga teacher training. This weekend course is also available as a one off workshop as well. You will also learn about:
• Traditional Yoga, Modern Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Tantra Yoga
• Basic pronunciation of Sanskrit words, how they are translated to English, and how Sanskrit is arranged
• Mythological stories of the Goddesses: Kali, Saraswati, Lakshmi
• Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga, including the ethics of yoga, postures, breathwork and meditation. **Enlightenment not guaranteed**
• The main paths of Yoga: Hatha, Jnana, Raja, Karma, Bhakti
• How the Universe came to be: Yoga’s story of Creation, Tattvas
• The dance of masculine & feminine energies: Shiva, Shakti and Kundalini
• Introduction to Pranayama or breath work
